Kate Walsh born as Kathleen Erin Walsh on October 13th, 1967 in San Jose, California is a beautiful American film and television actress best known for her role of Dr. Addison Montgomery on ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" and "Private Practice". Kate Walsh is often compared to the legendary French actress, Catherine Deneuve.

Kate Walsh is the daughter of Angela and her Irish immigrant husband. Kate Walsh who grew up in Tucson, Arizona has studied at Catalina High School and later studied at University of Arizona, where she indulged in theater polishing and honing her acting skills. During her formative years, Kate Walsh worked for her stepfather, a psychologist preparing profiles.

During the '80s, Kate Walsh made it big as a runway model in Japan and was very popular with the Japanese audience, who adored her voluptuous sensual beauty.

Since the acting bug began biting her, Kate Walsh moved to Chicago where she started off with Piven Theatre Workshop. Later she moved to New York City and joined the comedy troupe 'Burn Manhattan' in June of 1987 and went on to appear in a number of off-Broadway plays. Her theater repertoire stood her in good stead with the television producers, who began to cast her in their single episodic dramas such as "Homicide: Life on the Street", and "Swift Justice" {both 1996}, and "Law & Order" {1997}. Kate Walsh had a recurring role as Drew's girlfriend, Nicki on "The Drew Carey Show" {21 episodes: 1997-2002}.

She then got the role of Dr. Addison Montgomery-Shepherd, the wife of Dr. Sheppard on the ABC's hit television sitcom "Grey's Anatomy" {54 episodes: 2005 to 2008}. Initially her role was conceived for only a few episodes. But her beauty, sensuousness and great acting skills has captivated millions of television viewers which forced the producers to expand her role; and she thus became part of the regular milieu of actors on "Grey's Anatomy". In "Private Practice" {9 episodes: 2007}, a spin-off of "Grey's Anatomy", Dr. Addison Montgomery leaves the hospital for Los Angeles and puts up her own "Private Practice". She later rejoins her hospital on Grey's Anatomy".

Beginning with "Normal Life" in 1996, Kate Walsh has appeared in several films including "Night of the Lawyers" {1997}, "The Family Man" {2000}, "After the Sunset" {2004} and other movies.

Kate Walsh married Alex Young, a 20th Century Fox production co-president on September 1st, 2007 in Los Angeles. On December 11, 2008, it was announced that Young filed for divorce after 15 months of marriage.
